Requirements & Useful Infomation

The Term OCI stands for Overseas Citizen of India.  Singh Tutt Notary Public has extensive experience in assisting NRIs (Non Resident Indians), and people of Indian Origin living in the United Kingdom to apply for and obtain an OCI.  In particular we have aided our client's in drafting and notarising an Affidavit in support of an OCI application. We can, subject to taking your instructions and assessing your documentary evidence, assist you in preparing an affidavit to establish that you are a person of Indian origin.

 

This affidavit will assist you in your application to obtain registration as an Overseas Citizen of India. 

 

In our experience, we find that our client's approach us with the following scenarios:

 

  • You would like to apply for an OCI based upon evidence that you are of India Origin, as you were born in India.

  • You would like to apply for an OCI based upon evidence that either of your parents were of Indian origin or Indian Nationals.

​

  • You would like to apply for an OCI based upon evidence that you are married to an Indian national or a person who is of Indian origin who currently holds an OCI.

​

  • You are an Indian national or of Indian origin or an OCI holder, and you wish to apply for your child (who is a minor) to obtain an OCI.

Providing evidence for your OCI application

​

The Indian authorities/High Commission/Consulate shall require evidence in support of your OCI application.  If you require us to do so, we shall be able to refer to evidence in your affidavit supporting your OCI application.

​Draft and notarise an Affidavit in support of your OCI Application stating whatever facts and information, and also referring to documentary evidence which has been requested by Indian authorities/High Commission/Consulate.

You must contact us and arrange an appointment so that we can attend upon you and take your instructions in person.  We cannot take instructions through a third party.

 

If your have mobility or health issues, we can visit you to attend upon you, take instructions and if required to draft and notarise an Affidavit in support of your OCI Application.  We can visit your home, at hospitals and at care homes.

 

Each person appearing before the notary public to sign any document in support of their OCI application shall need the following forms of identification and items:

 

  • A Valid Passport 

​

  • A Valid Photo card Driving Licence

​

  • One proof of postal address which is no more than three months old.  You can use either of the following:  

 

  • A utility bill

​

  • A bank statement

 

  • A letter received in the post from either a Doctor, Hospital or any other person or organisation.

 

Note that ID and additional requirements depend on the type of Affidavit you require, its purpose and Indian High Commission Requirements.
